Why I chose to sell patterns on Ravelry (and the book on my website)
I’m often asked why my individual knitting patterns live on Ravelry, while my book is available directly through my website. The short answer is: updates, accessibility, and community. Ravelry offers a system that works exceptionally well for individual patterns. It allows me to easily send updates, corrections, and notifications to everyone who has purchased a pattern — which is especially important when patterns evolve over time or receive small refinements. For knitters, it also means having all their patterns stored in one familiar place, with automatic access to updates whenever they’re released. A book, however, is a different kind of project.
