About me
Hi, I’m Alzbeta — though at home my mum still calls me Babu, a childhood nickname that eventually inspired the name Babu Knitworks. It never really caught on with anyone else, but somehow it felt just right for this little knitting world of mine.
I’m one half of the Prague yarn shop Woolpoint, and if you’ve ever stopped by, chances are we’ve already met. I picked up knitting in 2020, and it quickly became my way to slow down and breathe in a world that rarely does. Since then, I haven’t put my needles down.
You’ll often find me behind the counter at Woolpoint, chatting about yarn, or sharing my adventures (and misadventures) in our regular video podcast on YouTube (in Czech). I also spend a little too much time on Instagram and TikTok, where I talk about patterns, yarn, and all things fiber.
When I’m not knitting, I’m usually walking in nature with a camera in hand. Photography is a big part of my creative process — it’s where most of my design inspiration comes from. I’m drawn to unexpected color combinations, sharp contrasts, and the quiet, soft transitions that only nature seems to get right. My patterns often play with texture, lace, and a touch of whimsy.
I started publishing my own knitting designs in 2023, and you can find them here in my shop as well as on Ravelry. Most recently, I took a big leap and created my very first book of knitting patterns — a collection rooted in slow making, stories, nature, and wool.
