Why I chose to sell patterns on Ravelry (and the book on my website)
I’m often asked why my individual knitting patterns live on Ravelry, while my book is available directly through my website.
The short answer is: updates, accessibility, and community.
Ravelry offers a system that works exceptionally well for individual patterns. It allows me to easily send updates, corrections, and notifications to everyone who has purchased a pattern — which is especially important when patterns evolve over time or receive small refinements.
For knitters, it also means having all their patterns stored in one familiar place, with automatic access to updates whenever they’re released.
A book, however, is a different kind of project.
Joy in Every Stitch is designed as a complete, cohesive collection — not just a set of individual instructions, but a story told through texture, color, and quiet moments of making. Selling the book directly through my website allows me to present it in the way it was intended, and to create a more personal connection with readers.
At the moment, many of the older individual patterns are undergoing revisions. Once they’re ready, they’ll continue to live on Ravelry, and I’ll start offering them here as well.
Both platforms serve different purposes — and together, they allow me to share my work in the way that feels most thoughtful and sustainable.

If you revise a pattern that’s in the book, will we get the updated version, or would we have to repurchase it?

Thank you so much for your question!
There is a dedicated errata section on my website where I post any corrections or updates to my patterns (no changes have been made so far). If I still have the buyer’s email address in my database, I will also send out notifications about any changes. (Due to GDPR requirements, however, email addresses must be deleted after a certain period of time.)
I’m also planning to launch a newsletter soon. Once it’s up and running, you’ll be able to subscribe and stay up to date with any pattern updates or revisions as well 😊
